How to Write in a Book

I enjoyed reading this post by Laura Miller on different methods of writing in a book or taking notes for a book. As someone always struggling to come up with a good method, I am impressed with hers, though also somewhat intimidated, as it is far more organized that I can ever imagine being.

Wow, Laura Miller is so methodical!

Incidentally, that’s exactly how Susan Bloom and Cathie Mercier did paper comments in the children’s lit course they co-taught.

I’m not much of a margin-writer in books, although I am on photocopies, but I do keep a stack of post-it notes nearby, and leave those in books with notes. The bookmark function of them is very important to me.

Thanks for this post. I do like to see all the quirky ways that people do the things they do.
